“...Behold I bring you tidings of Joy.” - Luke 2:10
“In The School of Christ, however, there are no bells to mark the end of classes, nor are there buses ready to roll and signal that a new year of study has begun.”
The School Bell’s Ringing
“Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you…” 1 Peter 3:15
This is the season in which we’re reminded of the beginning of an-other school year. There are lots of children standing on the street corners, waiting for big yellow buses to come and scoop them up for delivery to their assigned buildings for classes, and increased traffic everywhere! The summer nears its end, and the kids know that it’s time to get serious once again about their studies. In The School of Christ, however, there are no bells to mark the end of classes, nor are there buses ready to roll and signal that a new year of study has begun.
Always be prepared…means that God has charged us to be ever vigi-lant, ever ready to tell others about our faith in God and Christ, and always practicing our faith before the eyes of the world. This would be an impossible task, were it not for the fact that Jesus has as-sured us that “the Holy Spirit will teach us what we ought to say” (Luke 12:12).
So, as the school season gets underway “in the world” let me take another opportunity to invite you to partake of the many continuing educational opportunities available at our church. The are many Life Groups for you to join – Sunday School classes, Bible studies, Circles – and if you’re interested, just call the office and ask for a listing. See you in church! ~Bob

Donate your excess garden veggies to Friendship Gardens!
Friendship Gardens is a network of community gardens scattered across the Charlotte area comprised of faith-based organizations, schools, institutions, private plots and backyards to help raise healthy, local produce to support the Friendship Trays program, a meals on wheels program that provides over 750 meals daily to people who need it.
We thank you for the 10 pounds of squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers that were donated last week.
And be sure to take a look at Pleasant Hill’s garden on the back road to the cemetery.
Our Food Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank will continue during September/October. We will be collecting PET FOODS. There is a collection container in the foyer.
Helping feed those who are hungry is one way we can all demonstrate our Christian love!
