Welcome to Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church
We're glad you're here! We hope that PHPC can become a safe place for you to go on a challenging journey. As you initiate this spiritual adventure, we want to join you on the way. Whether you're exploring faith or coming back after time away, ready to dive deeper into a relationship with Christ, or you want to make a difference in our world, many of us are in the same place. We don't have all the answers, but we sense God is changing lives here in a special way . . . and we hope you'll be part of it!

THE TIME IS RIGHT
Although the observance of New Year’s Day as a holiday dates from before the Christian Era, and has definite pagan roots, the idea of setting a time when resolutions can be made to “begin anew” appeals to many Christians. How many of us, if given the opportunity, would not want to change something about ourselves – our character, our habits, our daily routines – in an effort to become better persons in the process? Most of us, I dare say, would welcome the chance, if it existed.
Truth is, the opportunity does exist. For the believing Christian, every moment is pregnant (the biblical word for this is kairos) with the possibility of change and redirection. “Behold, now is the acceptable time,” the apostle Paul urges, “now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2).
Maybe you’ve been sitting on the fence, waiting for the right moment to come and seize you, and move you into serving God with renewed joy and vigor. NOW is that moment. Don’t let it pass by unattended. Our church needs folks with fresh vision and imagination, with energy and commitment, who are not afraid of stepping forward to be counted. “Christ is counting on you.” Will you answer his call?
See you in church! Bob
YOUR STEPHEN MINISTERS ARE HERE FOR YOU . . . .
Doris was an editor and a writer. Several months ago she was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease. She wasn’t sure she wanted or needed a Stephen Minister.
“I have this thing about not wanting to look needy or frail.”
Several months ago she and her Stephen Minister began to meet once a week. Doris found her Stephen Minister to be caring and compassionate, a wonderful listener, and a firm believer in God. Doris realized that there was great benefit in talking to an objective person.
“Sometimes it just isn’t possible to share everything with family” she stated. “I appreciate that she listens to me and is never judgmental. This diagnosis has been very hard for me to accept. My Stephen Minister understands my fears and anger.”
Stephen Ministers are ready to give people who are hurting or facing a challenging time the gift of being a confidential, compassionate, and active listener.
Please welcome your Stephen Minister Referral Coordinators, Pam and Andy Reading. You can reach them at 704.588.8967. All calls are held in confidence.
( Select Stephen Ministry under the Groups tab.)
A Stephen Minister would never hiss at you.
